State and Territory Single Points of Contact (SPOC) - January 8, 2018

FirstNet News

  • Guam opted in to the FirstNet network last week. Stay tuned at www.firstnet.gov.
  • FirstNet will be at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and CES Government technology conferences this week in Las Vegas, Nevada. On Thursday, FirstNet will host the Transforming the Future of Emergency Communications track at CES with three panels. On Friday, FirstNet CEO Mike Poth will deliver a keynote address at the CES Government Conference.
  • This week, FirstNet will also participate in the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) Annual Meeting in San Diego, California; a full meeting of the National Public Safety Telecommunications Council (NPSTC); a meeting of the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission in Amarillo, Texas; a meeting with the U.S. Coast Guard in Washington, DC; and tribal meetings in New Mexico with the Pueblo of Santa Ana, the Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, the Pueblo of Pojoaque, the Santa Clara Pueblo, and the Tesuque Pueblo.
  • Since the last update, FirstNet posted one new blog: New Year, New Network, New FirstNet.

Guam Gov. Eddie Calvo today announced that he has accepted the nationwide public-safety broadband network (NPSBN) deployment plan offered by FirstNet and AT&T, making Guam the first Pacific territory to "opt in" to the FirstNet system.

Following news that all of the nation's states have opted in to FirstNet's public-safety network, executives at FirstNet and AT&T are now moving forward with their network buildout plans. But, as FirstNet officials have pointed out, FirstNet is more than just a network.

With unanimous support from 53 US states and territories, AT&T will launch a dedicated broadband fast lane for first responders, the company announced Friday.

 

Web and Social Media

FirstNet's social media presence grew at its normal rate last week.  Twitter gained 92 new followers, now at 8,809.  Facebook has 2,418 followers.  LinkedIn now has 3,579 followers.  YouTube has 641 subscribers.
