Pharmacists do much more than dispense medicine. They are an important part of reducing risk for heart disease and stroke in the community. Pharmacists can help people manage conditions such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol by helping patients take their medicines as directed, monitor their blood pressure, and encourage healthy habits. This October is American Pharmacists Month, a chance to learn about the many ways pharmacists can support patients and health care professionals. Visit CDC's Pharmacy Resources to learn more about pharmacists' role in team-based care.
