Emergency Vehicle Operator

Emergency Vehicle Operator

Initial Certification

Personnel qualify for certification as an Emergency Medical Vehicle Operator by meeting the following requirements:

· Be 18 years of age or older.

· Successfully complete an approved 16 hour or CEVO emergency vehicle operator's course.

· Submit an online application and certification fee.

· Create a CIS account.

· Complete a background check.

· Submit a copy of your CPR card.

· Successfully complete First Aid training meeting OSHA 1910.266.

· Possess and maintain and provide us a copy of your valid unrestricted driver's license.

· Successfully complete a WVOEMS approved MCI Awareness and Operations or higher, one time requirement.

· Successfully complete Hazmat Awareness training meeting OSHA 1910.120 or higher standards on a yearly basis.* Courses may be found at www.saferesonse.com

· Not have been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving within two years prior to submitting an application.

· Complete the Emergency Medical Vehicle Operator Initial Certification Education Record which is in our EMVO policy at www.wvoems.org/files/policy/emergency-medical-vehicle-operator-certification

Recertification

· Submit a copy of your CPR card.

· Submit an online application and recertification fee.

· Complete a background check, if you have not done so in the past. Please call if you are not sure

· Successfully complete Hazmat Awareness training meeting OSHA 1910.120 or higher standards on a yearly basis. Courses may be found at www.saferesponse.com

· Maintain First Aid training meeting OSHA 1910.266.

· Possess and maintain a valid unrestricted driver's license.
